It's winter. Here in our little crafty store in LaPine, Oregon we have snow, cold weather and everyone is pretty much squirreled away for winter waiting for fishing season.
That gives me some time to create in our small boutique of curated goods. I found this cute metal school desk at Goodwill! I loved the patina and wanted to find a way to keep the original color, yet give it a upgraded look!
The lightbulb moment came when I realized that the Corrugted Metal paper from Roycycled Treausures would be the perfect blend of that sea green and the natural rust that was already going on with the piece.
The first step was of course to clean and scuff sand the laminate top. I painted the top wtih Deb'is DIY Bead Board. If you want your decopauge paper to stand out, always use a lighter color underneath and allow that to dry.
Once my paint was dry, I used a topcoat to lay the paper down and then I used leftover bubblewrap to smooth out. I left the piece sit overnight, so the topcoat could completly dry and be ready to detail and seal.
Of course I opened MM Home Co, creative boutiqe and played with the details while waiting for customers.
I deided to put a little unexpected glitter down with the topcoat. Honestly I used Dollar Tree gillter that came in this awsome rust color! I just had fun blending it in with the topcoat in places where the paper had rust accents. I loved the industrial glam look that the fun glitz gave the piece!
I had a lttle stool the right height that I was saving for a fun project. I painted it a complementary color Apothecary. I decopauged the paper over the seat and it was an unexpected way to pull the set together. If not using it as a place to sit, it would make a great little plant stand! (Have you seen our new plant section? It’s growing)
Of course we already had some fun accesories to bring the little table and matching stool to life!
What would you do with this project?
I encourage you to stop into our little creative space in LaPine, Oregon. You never know what you will find - or what will inspire you!

]]>Forest, dirt roads, and nods to history are a few of my favorite things. My grandfather owned a logging company and blazed trail for many of Oreogn's dirt roads we all love to ramble down.
We all have special family moments and places and things that tie us to the past. Special curated pieces in our homes that give us that memory of feeling of home - are fun to create!
I have decided to explore the possibilities of creating furniture art that gives a nod to Oregon's history. I will be calling this series "History RePaints Itlself"
With the IOD Spring release, Millots Pages transfer was able to take a garage sale find and turn it into functional furniture art.
Because of the. many bugs that look like pages and pages of good research- I choose the bug collection from the Millots Pages .
The Ashland Entomology Field Office was hub for insect resarch and preserving the Douglas Fir Timber and Hemlock. The Ashland Burue became one of the first permenent Field Stations in the United States.
From 1915 to 1919 the Ashland Station carried on a series of studies of bark beetle infestations in the Rogue River and Klamath River watersheds. These studies led to new research methods.
Early Entomologist gave valuable date for future generations to preserve our forests. Unfortunately , early scientest were not aware of how much their ealry research would impact todays forests. Today's entomologists study the bark beetle, with techniques and former data used my the early entomologist.
Without sciece and dedicated professionals, our forests would not be as vibrant and healthy as they are today.
So - hug a tree, hug a scientist, and go out and get creative!

I broke out! I had the honor of being asked to join a girls trip to Waco with a few of the kindest, talented and successful business women I know. I was just as excited to hang out with the girls as I was to see Magnolia for the first time!
Despite masks and COVID-19 restrictions It was amazing!
I fell in love with texture, simplicity and adventure! My goal this year is to curate that simple style that honors what you have done with your space and compliments you!
For each of us...that looks different. The fun for me is having basic supplies to facilitates your vision!
The slightest variations of color can awaken the senses and give our eyes a delight without the "overwhelm".
I am pleased to show you our new Farmhouse neutral craft project colors that will help you bring that warm up to date look to your home.
The Farmhouse Neutral Line-up

]]>Have a little spot on your patio that could use the "perfect" little piece of flair? Have a neighbor that just might need a little pick-me-up?
Meandering Maker has the perfect little project to get your hands a little dirty, your mind working the color wheel and your green thumb getting a bit of a workout.
We love the simplicity of the clay pot and paper clay. In the house, we have several IOD clay molds that lend themselves to inside cute accents and patio pretties. Although they can be used for jewelry, pots, furniture, and many more ideas....we think embellishing pots is a fun introduction to the magic!
Grab a friend, and let's spend a couple of hours creating something that can be useful year-round!
One of my favorite things about working with clay and molds is it's tactile, but you don't have to just get it perfect the first time. If you don't love your result - no biggie! Just rework the clay and try it again.
Your process is forming the molds in the clay, a little bit of dry time, and then playing with paint and waxes to bring you to project to your idea of perfection!
Plan a clay day! Just $15 per port! Grab a drink and a snack and let's create a fun afternoon!
Studio open Wed-Sun 10-5 or by appointment!

]]>Well for about two years I have had this vision of bringing people and stuff together at my studio to dream, re-create, and inspire together.
It's Sunday from 1-4 on May 17th! It won't be perfect. But it's on the calendar and it is gonna happen.
If you have a curated pile of things that you would like to see put to good use, reach out! Please bring your own tables and chair. We will set up at 12:30 and see what happens!
It's flippin' free and should be fun! Dressers, tables, etc! Please no household goods or clothing. Just furniture and fun things that can be put to creative use.
Thanks guys! Let's have a flippin' fun day!

I like to keep trying and doing. I can't help it. I change what I am curious about, and what I want to try, and then I come back to the familiar with a new spin or new technique. My favorite part of being a meandering maker is building a skill set to create new projects.
We are all in uncharted territory right now. But we all need a variation of the same thing. We have to keep trying and doing and pushing ourselves to do it over again- maybe in a different way.
This little banner says blessed one side. I made it in August when I was ready for fall and feeling like hot cider and pumpkins.
Little did I know that we would change up Meandering Maker and move into a fun bigger space, little did I know that we would find Olivia a rodeo horse named "Corona," Little did I know that we would shut our doors and worry about each other in new ways.
But just like this banner - we are still blessed - this is the other side of it all.
I am on a dark navy kick - and always a sucker for a project I can scuff and create an old look old for the instant character. I also might like it because a little age hides the not so perfect parts.
Today, this little nod to the good old USA means a look to the future, when maybe things can be fun again, and we can hug and gather with joy again and not fear.
I haven't said much about it, but I have started playing with Sweet Pickens Milk Paint and have some in the store. But I like the wax that they sell that you can put over the top of projects. Some of you have used it in the studio; in this case, it gave these thin flags some substance and depth. I was afraid they would turn out too dark - but I don't think so - it gave me the Betsy Ross look I wanted.
I used black wax over the red & white stripes to add some depth, and the "just painted" look went away.
Funny how seven little pieces and some sandpaper can make things right with the world, but it did for me today.
If you want to create your nod to America - or a banner for any decorative use or purpose - come on! Our banner pieces are just $2 per flag and are available to pick-up or by appointment!
