May 18th-21st

Meandering Maker

52848 Wayside Loop,

La Pine, Oregon 97739

Registration: $495

Kit: Precut leather for journal, watercolor paper signatures (pre-cut and scored), bookbinding needle, waxed linen + bonus project & goodies

A retreat for the yearning artist wanting to take a hydro flask and camp chair and paint nature's beauty. This is a working retreat where we aim to keep you inspired but not overwhelmed. Meandering Maker is a creative studio nested along the Deschutes National forest.

We will create, learn, explore, and create a creative community among tall trees and brave souls. Instruction will include - creating a nature-inspired journal and learning to watercolor your favorite natural elements. This event will give you a creative skill set and a strong set of supplies to create all summer and beyond.

Fun elements include walkable field trip into nature to photograph your favorite flora and fauna to paint, a dutch oven cobbler and night by the fire and enough free time to explore as a group or grab some alone time.

Meandering Maker is just 20 minutes from Sunriver and many spots that locals love!

Yes, this is an art retreat but if you have a loved one who loves nature - consider bringing them! We can help you set up guided fishing trips, possibly spring skiing and give you directions to our favorite lakeside retreat Elk Lake! Think fly fishing, renting motorcycles, spring skiing, or a brewery tour! You know Central Oregon loves its craft beer!

More information and details coming soon. We are limited to 20 tickets. The ticket price is for instruction and some supplies, guests are welcome to come to events that do not include supplies and “working artist time.” (Bring your travel companion for cobbler and firepit time!)  We will have a light start Thursday evening, so get here when you can, and we will be wrapped up by noon on Sunday.

What to bring:

Bring your play clothes and a couple of fun outfits. May is not “summer” in La Pine. Of course, we will have weather updates as it gets closer! But plan for a jacket and hiking shoes. We have plenty of easily walkable areas for great pics - so there will be enough options for every adventure level! We are not climbing to mountain tops or wading into water (well, you can, and bonus points if you do!) But don’t worry, You will choose your adventure!

We will be gathering photographs, building art journals, and learning to paint! So be comfortable, think camping with loads of talent and fun and a bit of boujee!

Remember to pack

Hat

Sunscreen

Folding camp chair if it is easy to bring

hiking shoes or comfortable shoes

A cute comfortable outfit for a evening out and about

Paint clothes

Helpful Hits:

Make sure the phone is fully charged (or digital camera) and storage if needed.

If you bring your iPhone - you will be given instructions on creating portrait setting photos that make the ideal content for painting.

Meandering Maker is an art studio nestled on 1.25 acres that backs the national forest. If you have a camping chair handy, bring it! We want to hear all your stories next to the campfire roasting a marshmallow.

(We do have an award-winning distillery, so don’t be surprised if we have a few special cocktails to share)

Food; We plan to keep you going with snacks! We will plan one optional group meal at the cider house, where food trucks will be available. Light snacks will be provided during art time!

Your kit is included, but you will have a short supply list.
