Our weekend at Meandering Maker is going to be packed with techniques and new mediums, so prepare yourself to be blown away!! Day one, we’re going to sun print with a Cyanotype* printing process (an antique photographic printing process) to create our own Prussian blue “prints” on fabric, paper and maybe even some leather! As an added bonus, because I love to do all the things, we will also be chemically etching into brass using Ferric Chloride. During down time, we will also do some quiet work with stitching and watercolor. Once all of our lessons are complete, we’ll assemble an incredible journal, which you can use for a variety of purposes. If you’re big on embellished denim jeans, consider bringing  a pair of jeans to play with as well – even a denim jacket. Seriously the cyanotype printing produces the most amazing Prussian blue monochromatic prints, and they look amazing stitched onto jeans. So if a
journal isn’t your thing, that’s totally ok! Just come and learn all the techniques and apply them in ways  that fit into your preferred mediums and hobbies! Meandering Maker is two full days of exploration, it’s all about play and quality time with creative friends!
We’ll have a variety of items for you to print on, both included in your kits and items you can purchase separately. One of the cool things about Lexi teaching the etching process, you can learn to make some  seriously cool jewelry elements – you can even etch a bit extra and attach your own designs to leather  cuffs that Lexi will have for sale. She’s going to cut assorted leathers and add the snap closures, so you  can add the fabulous etched pieces to journals, bags and jewelry, whatever your heart desires!
*Cyanotype photography is a camera-less technique that involves laying an object on paper(or fabric)coated with a solution of iron salts before exposing it to UV light and washing with water to create  stunning white and Prussian blue images.
